UAE hit by heavy rain, Dubai surpasses yearly average
Heavy thunderstorms hit the UAE, with Dubai receiving over 142mm (5.59 inches) of rain in 24 hours, surpassing its average yearly rainfall of 94.7mm (3.73 inches). The flooding led to airport closures, disrupted transportation, and caused deaths in Oman. Schools closed, and remote work was encouraged. In Oman, 18 people died due to heavy rains, including 10 schoolchildren. Other Gulf countries also experienced rainfall.
