10th annual Chili & Salsa Cook-off in Zachary, Louisiana

The 10th annual Lane Foundation Code Red Chili & Salsa Cook-off will take place on Saturday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be held in Downtown Zachary at 4650 Main St. Admission and parking are free. This year's competition is open to both amateur and professional cooks of all ages. Participants can enter in five categories: Judges Red Chili, Judges Non-Traditional, Judges Salsa, People’s Choice Chili, and People’s Choice Salsa. There is also a Team Spirit award, which recognizes teams for their presentation and overall spirit as well as food taste. Live music will begin at the Gazebo at 10 a.m. with Scenic Highway Band. Chris LeBlanc & Friends will perform at 11:15 a.m., followed by Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters at 1 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for comfort. Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy chili and salsa tastings, visit an arts and crafts market, and explore the Kids Zone with activities like face painting and games. Various food trucks will also be on-site. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Lane Foundation.
