120 kilograms of shabu seized in Oriental Mindoro
Authorities seized over 120 kilograms of shabu, valued at around P816 million, during an operation at Calapan Port in Oriental Mindoro on Friday. The operation was conducted by several agencies, including the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), local police, and the Philippine Coast Guard. A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene. Officials found the illegal drugs packed in two luggage bags and five handheld bags. Each bag contained 1-kilogram packages of shabu. In addition, they confiscated a car, a mobile phone, and a shipping ticket. Police Brigadier General Roger Quesada praised the joint effort, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in the fight against illegal drugs. He highlighted the need for strong port security to prevent drug smuggling. Quesada stated that the operation sends a clear message that MIMAROPA will not tolerate drug trafficking. He noted that since January, law enforcement has arrested 110 individuals linked to drug activities, confiscating over 434 grams of shabu worth nearly P3 million. He reiterated the commitment to intensify anti-drug efforts to protect communities and ensure a drug-free future.
