14-year-old admits to killing rival over £50 in Glasgow
A 14-year-old boy has confessed to killing a rival gang member over a £50 dispute. The incident took place in Greenfield Park, Glasgow, on May 31, 2024. The victim, Kory McCrimmon, was 16 years old and was stabbed in the heart during a confrontation. Before the attack, both boys had been communicating on social media. They initially had a friendly relationship, but it turned sour over the money. The accused refused to repay Kory, leading to threats exchanged online. The court heard that both boys made serious threats of violence against each other. On the night of the attack, a large group gathered at the park, and tensions escalated. The 14-year-old, who was carrying a knife, chased Kory during the argument. Kory turned to face him, and the accused stabbed him in the chest. Kory fell to the ground and later died at the hospital due to the stab wound. In court, the judge criticized gang behavior and noted the tragic consequences of the fight over a small amount of money. He spoke about the pain Kory's parents are enduring due to their loss. The attacker will be sentenced in May following his guilty plea to a lesser charge of culpable homicide.
