14-year-old shot and killed in downtown Cleveland

A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot inside the Allerton Apartments in downtown Cleveland on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, identified as Rayshawn Watkins, was taking out garbage when the incident occurred around 2 p.m. Rayshawn was shot on the fourth floor of the building located on East 13th Street. Paramedics rushed him to MetroHealth Medical Center, but he did not survive. Cleveland police are investigating the shooting but have not shared any details about how it happened or what may have led to it. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. This incident adds to the ongoing concerns about violence in the city, as Cleveland detectives are currently looking into at least 15 murders this year. This number shows a significant decrease compared to 28 murders during the same time last year, marking a 46% drop in homicides.
