15-year-old wins Eastern India Equestrian Championship
Siddharth Debgupta, a Class X student, has won the Eastern India Equestrian Championship. The event took place at Tollygunge Club and attracted over 120 riders from eastern India. Siddharth competed in the confined riding category. Following the competition, Anush Agarwalla, India's first Olympic dressage qualifier, held an inspiring session for the young riders. Agarwalla, who won a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games, shared his experiences in equestrian sports. He emphasized the importance of mental strength and physical training. Agarwalla has a strong background in riding, having started at the Tollygunge Club over 130 years old. He now lives in Germany but returned to Kolkata to support aspiring riders. He hopes more talented equestrians will emerge from the region. Siddharth, who has participated in six equestrian competitions, dreams of representing India in the Olympics. He praised Agarwalla as an inspiration. Ayanabh Debgupta, chairperson of the equestrian committee at Tollygunge Club, expressed optimism that Agarwalla's mentorship will invigorate the riding community in eastern India.
