16,000 Israeli soldiers seek rehab for war-related trauma
The Israeli Defense Ministry has reported that 16,000 soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have sought rehabilitation since the conflict escalated on October 7, 2023. Nearly half of these soldiers are dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Of the soldiers in rehab, 2,900 are experiencing both physical and psychological trauma. Sadly, 72 have undergone amputations due to their injuries. The ministry expects that the number of injured veterans requiring rehab could reach as high as 100,000 by the year 2030. Experts are warning that this could lead to a significant and ongoing mental health crisis within the IDF. Additionally, Israel is currently facing allegations of war crimes at the International Court of Justice related to its actions in Gaza. The situation remains tense as the conflict continues to escalate.
