17-year-old charged with murdering brother in Fall River
A 17-year-old boy named Jaylen Lambert has been charged with shooting his older brother, Jaleale Simmons, in Fall River, Massachusetts. The tragic incident occurred during an argument at their home on Saturday. Lambert appeared in court on Monday, where he was visibly emotional. During the court hearing, Lambert's family expressed their support. They shouted messages like "We love you" as he was taken away. Lambert is facing charges of murder and possession of a firearm. His lawyer is arguing that the incident should be considered manslaughter instead. Prosecutors say the shooting happened after a physical argument between the brothers. Their mother attempted to separate them, but Lambert later returned with a gun. He allegedly shot Simmons in the chest. After the shooting, police arrived, and Simmons was pronounced dead at the hospital. Lambert will be tried as an adult under Massachusetts law, as the case involves serious charges. He is currently held without bail in Bristol County Jail. His attorney believes there needs to be more investigation into the events leading up to the tragedy and considers the murder charges to be excessive. Lambert’s next court date is scheduled for April 25.
