18-year-old dies from West Humboldt Park shooting
An 18-year-old man has died after being shot in West Humboldt Park. Erik Colon was one of three individuals injured in a shooting on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred outside a home on West Crystal Street, according to Chicago police. Colon sustained multiple gunshot wounds and initially went to St. Mary Hospital. He was later moved to Stroger Hospital where he remained in critical condition. He died on Tuesday, and authorities have ruled his death a homicide. A 23-year-old man who was also shot went to Humboldt Park Health. He is currently in critical condition. A 16-year-old boy was injured as well and was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, but he is in good condition. Police have not made any arrests related to the shooting.
