19-year-old killed, 40-year-old injured in Solano County crash
A 19-year-old man was killed and another man, aged 40, was seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 80 in Solano County. The accident occurred on Sunday at around 6 p.m. near American Canyon Road, east of Vallejo. The California Highway Patrol reported that both men were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. A helicopter was called to the scene to take them to the hospital. Tragically, the younger man died, while the older man suffered major injuries. Officials closed all eastbound lanes of the freeway but reopened one lane shortly after. By 8 p.m., all lanes were back in operation. The cause of the crash is still being investigated. Authorities have noted that speed was a factor in the incident. They are also looking into the potential involvement of alcohol or drugs, as well as whether the men were wearing seatbelts and who was driving the vehicle.
