19-year-old killed in Milwaukee car crash
A mother is heartbroken after her 19-year-old daughter, Kila Searcy, was killed in a car crash while heading to work. The accident happened early Monday morning. Kila was traveling with two others when their vehicle was hit by a speeding car. Kila's mother, Natasha Searcy, expressed her sorrow, saying she feared the worst when she saw police arrive at her home. She described Kila as someone with a lot of life left to live. Kila had recently graduated high school and wanted to be a certified nursing assistant. She worked third shift at Amazon. Kila's godmother, Ta'Sheema Terry, shared how much Kila meant to her. Terry had known Kila since she was a little girl and said she was excited to start her adult life. "She didn’t deserve this," Terry said through tears. The crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Milwaukee Police reported that officers spotted a speeding vehicle but were not in pursuit when the crash happened. The driver of the speeding car hit Kila's vehicle, pushing it into a parked car. Kila died at the scene and five other people were taken to the hospital. The police later revealed that the car involved in the crash was stolen. The search for the suspects continues. Kila's family, including her 11-year-old twin brothers, are struggling to cope with her loss. They are also trying to raise money for her funeral. Natasha Searcy spoke about the need for change, urging better driving habits and discussions with their children. The family plans to hold a memorial at the site of the crash on Tuesday evening.
