2025 Ram 1500 Big Horn introduces twin-turbo engine

The 2025 Ram 1500 Big Horn has joined a long-term test program after two previous Ram 1500 models. This makes it the sixth in this series. Ram trucks have been popular, winning multiple awards. The major change this time is the introduction of a new six-cylinder engine, replacing the traditional Hemi V-8. The new "Hurricane" inline-six engine offers 420 horsepower and 469 pound-feet of torque. The base engine still provides 305 horsepower. The team chose the Big Horn trim with six seats for its utility. They plan to use the truck for various purposes, like towing vehicles and family trips. The truck features a large 33-gallon fuel tank for added range. The team hopes this new six-cylinder engine will improve fuel economy compared to the previous V-8 model. So far, it matches the EPA rating of 19 mpg. In performance tests, the Ram 1500 Big Horn reached 60 mph in 4.8 seconds and completed a quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds. This is significantly quicker than the earlier models. The truck is equipped with towing capabilities, able to tow nearly 11,000 pounds. Inside, the Big Horn includes modern features like a large infotainment screen and heated seats. However, it lacks keyless entry, which some may find surprising. The ride quality is expected to be smooth, benefiting from upgraded suspension systems. As of now, the truck has been driven 3,737 miles and has not required any service or repairs. The team looks forward to putting it through more tests and evaluations in the coming months.
