A court in Islamabad has sent 25 Pakistani students to jail for using fake visas to try to enter the United Kingdom. The students will stay in judicial custody for 14 days. The District and Sessions Court rejected a request from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to keep the students in their custody longer. The court instead decided to place them in jail. The students appeared before Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal. Prosecutors claimed that they had altered passports to help them settle in the UK. Defense lawyers asked the court for bail for the students. The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 24 to discuss the legal arguments from both sides.
