251 employees laid off at Pennsylvania plant

SPS Technologies, a company that makes fasteners for the aviation industry, will lay off 251 employees at its Abington Township plant in Pennsylvania. The layoffs are scheduled for May 18, 2025. The company announced this decision after a fire at its facility on February 17 caused significant damage. They stated that the layoffs are due to unforeseen business circumstances resulting from the incident. In a notice to the state, SPS Technologies explained the layoffs were unavoidable and that they provided notice as soon as they could. This notice was filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, which requires employers to inform workers of mass layoffs 60 days in advance. The WARN notice was dated March 14, 2025.
