30-year-old man dies by suicide in Mumbai
A 30-year-old man died by suicide on Tuesday evening after jumping into the sea from the Coastal Road near Worli in Mumbai. His body was found the next morning. Witnesses said the man jumped into the water around 7:45 PM. He parked his car on the northbound lane before making the leap. Eyewitnesses alerted the police, who found a Hyundai i20 parked nearby. The fire brigade began a search operation, but it had to stop due to low visibility. The victim's family said he spoke to his mother shortly before the incident. He told her he would be home later. Instead, he drove to the Coastal Road and jumped. Authorities discovered the man's body around 7:10 AM the following day, floating under a bridge. The fire brigade recovered it and took it to BYL Nair Hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest he was upset due to a family dispute. According to police, he had recently married in a love marriage, but his relationship faced challenges. The police have filed an Accidental Death Report and plan to interview the family when they are ready. This incident marks the first reported suicide on the newly opened Coastal Road, which runs 10 kilometers from Marine Drive to Worli.
