33 teachers in Gopalganj, Bihar, dismissed for irregularities
Thirty-three teachers in Gopalganj district, Bihar, have been fired due to irregularities in their appointments. The decision was upheld by the High Court on Saturday. The teachers were hired for positions that were not officially vacant. This occurred after the previous teachers either resigned or died. District Education Officer Yogesh Kumar explained that some positions had not been declared vacant since 2010. The District Appellate Authority later declared these positions vacant, allowing the appointment of the 33 teachers. However, the district education authorities contested this decision. They appealed to the State Appellate Authority, which ruled against the teachers and ordered their dismissal. Following this, the teachers went to the High Court, but the court supported the State Appellate Authority's decision. As a result, the teachers will not only lose their jobs but also have their previous salaries reclaimed.
