35 arrested, P122,000 in drugs seized in Bicol
In Daraga, Albay, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Bicol made 35 arrests in recent operations targeting illegal activities. These operations took place on Monday and Tuesday and are part of a wider campaign against illegal drugs, gambling, loose firearms, and wanted criminals. The police reported that they conducted 30 operations during this period. Eight individuals were taken into custody for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. Authorities seized over 122,000 pesos worth of illegal drugs, including 17.95 grams of shabu and 1.9 grams of marijuana. Additionally, nine wanted persons were apprehended as part of Operation “Manhunt Charlie,” which focuses on capturing high-profile fugitives in the region. The police carried out two operations against illegal gambling, leading to the arrest of eight more suspects. In efforts to address firearms offenses, two people were arrested in four operations related to illegal gun possession. Three firearms were confiscated, and two others were voluntarily surrendered. A gun ban remains in effect until June 2025 as part of ongoing election measures.
