39 two-wheelers seized for helmet rule violations in Vizag
In Visakhapatnam, authorities have seized 39 two-wheelers from people who frequently violate helmet laws. This action took place between March 14 and the following Tuesday. The Deputy Transport Commissioner, R. Ch. Srinivas, stated that these riders could face cancellation of their driving licences. The campaign against traffic rule violations will continue, as police and transport officials enhance their checks. According to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, both the rider and the passenger must wear helmets. If caught without them, offenders face fines and possible three-month licence suspensions. Additionally, individuals who drive during their licence suspension can have their licences cancelled, as they are considered to be driving without a licence. A recent Supreme Court ruling emphasizes strict enforcement of these traffic laws. District and Sessions Judge Alapati Giridhar supports this initiative, urging strong action against those who break the rules.
