3D scan reveals new details of Shackleton's sunken Endurance ship
A new 3D scan of the wreck of Ernest Shackleton’s HMS Endurance has revealed previously unseen details. The ship sank in 1915 after being crushed by ice and was found in 2022 at a depth of 3,008 meters. The scan shows artifacts like crew plates, a boot, and a flare gun on the deck. These images will be featured in a documentary titled "Endurance," premiering at the London Film Festival and later on Disney+. Shackleton's expedition aimed for a full crossing of Antarctica but ended in disaster when the ship became trapped in ice. Remarkably, all crew members survived, thanks to Shackleton's leadership.
