Authorities in Vizianagaram have seized 490 kilograms of single-use plastic from several shops. This action is part of an ongoing effort to enforce a ban on such materials. Special teams from the Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation conducted the raids on Tuesday. The areas targeted included Boddu Kalavathi junction, Kottagraharam, Gajularega, and PW Market. These raids were ordered by Municipal Commissioner Palli Nallanayya. In addition to the seized plastic, officials fined the traders a total of ₹49,000. In a statement, Mr. Nallanayya warned that shops found selling banned plastic could face further penalties, including confiscation of their goods. He emphasized the health and environmental risks associated with using banned plastic. The municipality urges residents to avoid these materials to protect their wellbeing and the environment.
