49ers may trade Brandon Aiyuk to benefit Panthers

The San Francisco 49ers may consider trading wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk this offseason. Aiyuk has previously been mentioned in trade talks, especially after the 49ers traded fellow receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington team. Sports Illustrated writer Matthew Schmidt suggests that Aiyuk could be traded to the Carolina Panthers. This move would give quarterback Bryce Young a valuable target. The 49ers might have to let Aiyuk go due to financial issues as they plan to pay quarterback Brock Purdy. The Panthers have not added any receivers this offseason and may target one in the draft. They showed interest in DK Metcalf before he was traded to the Steelers, indicating they want to support Young’s development after his improved performance in the second half of 2024. While the 49ers may want to keep Aiyuk as part of their offensive strategy, the Panthers could benefit greatly from acquiring him. Aiyuk would provide Young with an established player to help boost their passing game.
