49ers negotiating contract extension for quarterback Brock Purdy

However, with some players leaving, the team might be preparing to pay Purdy what he deserves. Garafolo noted that Purdy will likely ask for a salary similar to top quarterbacks in the league. In recent years, quarterback contracts have generally taken up about 21% to 25% of a team's salary cap. If the 49ers pay Purdy around $50 million a year, they will need to draft well to remain competitive. They have 11 draft picks to help replace lost talent and maintain their success.
