51 beggars arrested in Ras Al Khaimah campaign
Ras Al Khaimah Police have arrested 51 beggars as part of a campaign against begging. This initiative, called "Combat Begging and Help Those in Need," is a joint effort with the Criminal Investigation Department. Since Ramadan began, police have detained 34 men and 17 women involved in begging. Officials noted that Ramadan can attract people who take advantage of others' kindness. They encouraged residents to give donations only through official charities to ensure help reaches those in real need. The campaign also aims to educate the public about misleading begging tactics that aim to manipulate emotions during Ramadan. Authorities explained that begging can harm the country’s image and is often connected to criminal activities, such as theft. The police have asked the community to report any beggars by calling 901.
