60 U.S. colleges investigated for antisemitism claims
The U.S. Department of Education is investigating 60 colleges and universities for potential violations of Title VI related to antisemitic harassment and discrimination. Institutions have been warned of possible consequences if they fail to protect Jewish students adequately. Previously, five universities were already under investigation. The new list includes 55 additional schools responding to complaints. Six Ivy League universities, including Columbia and Harvard, received letters regarding the investigations. The investigations come amid increased scrutiny of pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campuses. The Trump administration has prioritized combating antisemitism, recently canceling $400 million in federal funding to Columbia for not addressing antisemitism effectively.
