65-year-old man killed in family clash in Delhi
A 65-year-old man was killed and five others injured during a violent clash between two families in Bharat Nagar, northwest Delhi, on Friday night. The police received a report of the stabbing at 10:58 PM. The victim, Radhe Shyam, was declared dead after being taken to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital. The conflict reportedly started as a minor dispute between children and escalated into a much larger fight. Bhisham Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police for North-West, stated that the brawl involved stone-pelting and significant property damage, including a broken scooter and damaged furniture. Witness accounts suggest that the argument began with an eight-year-old boy and his friends. Kamla, Shyam's wife, described how the situation grew worse, with adults yelling and throwing stones. She said her husband was trying to stop the fight when he was stabbed. The clash also injured Munni, a 40-year-old woman, who claimed that she was struck with a helmet and attacked while trying to intervene. While both parties have different understandings of how the events unfolded, they agree that Shyam was trying to help when he was attacked. Residents, including Shyam’s daughter-in-law Nandini, expressed frustration at the police's delayed response. They claimed to have called for help several times before the stabbing occurred. Police acknowledged that they had investigated the situation earlier, but claimed it was resolved before the violence erupted. A case of murder and attempted murder has been filed at the Bharat Nagar police station. The investigation is ongoing.
