74 corruption cases filed in Mizoram under lokayukta

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced on Thursday that 74 corruption cases have been filed with the Mizoram lokayukta. Inquiries have been completed for 46 of these cases, while 14 are still pending. The government has approved full investigations for 26 of the corruption cases. So far, four individuals indicted by the lokayukta have been convicted. Lalduhoma mentioned that during the previous government led by the MNF, two cases were referred to the CBI, but permission for investigation was denied. In contrast, Lalduhoma stated that his government has allowed the CBI to investigate three cases. He also claimed that former Chief Minister Zoramthanga did not consult him about appointing the chairperson or members of the lokayukta, despite being the leader of the largest opposition party.
