8-year-old girl killed by construction site debris

An 8-year-old girl died in Guwahati on Monday after being hit by debris from a building under construction. The incident occurred in the Chatribari area around 5 pm. Residents are angry, claiming that worker negligence led to the tragedy. The girl was inside a room next to the construction site when a stone crashed through the tin roof and struck her. People nearby heard a loud noise and rushed to help. Despite being taken to the hospital, she sadly did not survive her injuries. Detective Chief Police (DCP) Amitabh Basumatary confirmed the details. He said that a case has been registered at the Paltan Bazar police station. Six people have been arrested as part of the investigation into whether safety rules were ignored. The girl's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
