82% of Americans believe president must obey court rulings
A recent poll shows that most Americans think the president should follow federal court rulings. The Reuters/Ipsos survey found that 82% of respondents, including many from both political parties, agree the president should obey the courts, even if he disagrees with them. However, when it comes to immigration policies, opinions vary. Many supporters of former President Donald Trump are willing to give him more freedom to act on deportations. The poll revealed that 76% of Republicans support continuing deportations, even when a court order says to stop. Meanwhile, only 8% of Democrats agree with this approach. The poll highlights that while Trump’s supporters generally believe in the checks and balances of the courts, many would back him in ignoring a court order related to deportations. This issue arose when Trump's administration tried to deport migrants linked to gangs, despite a judge's ruling stopping those deportations. Trump has seen a slight increase in approval ratings. The poll found 45% of Americans approve of his performance, compared to 44% from earlier this month. His ratings are notably higher on immigration, with nearly half of respondents supporting his actions. In contrast, views on his handling of the economy and other issues are not as positive. The poll surveyed over 1,000 U.S. adults and has a margin of error of about 3 percentage points.
