88 researchers celebrated at PGIMER's annual research day

Chandigarh hosted the 11th annual research day at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on Saturday. The event celebrated the achievements of 88 researchers in the medical field. Among them, 48 were recognized for their top-rated research publications, and 40 were honored for their innovative contributions. Around 400 research publications from the past year were showcased at the event. Arun Kumar Sood, the principal scientific adviser to the Government of India, attended the event online as the chief guest. He spoke about the 2047 Viksit Bharat vision, emphasizing the importance of cell and gene therapy and the effective use of artificial intelligence in healthcare. During the event, PGIMER signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) in Bengaluru. This agreement aims to enhance collaboration between medical and scientific fields, promoting advancements in diagnostics, therapeutics, and patient care. Winners in various categories were also announced. Ajay Kumar Duseja from the hepatology department won first prize in medical specialties. Kajal Jain from anesthesiology and intensive care topped the surgical specialties. In the pre-clinical and para-clinical specialties category, Lekha Saha from pharmacology received the first prize for professors. Other notable winners included Dr. Divakar P. Reddy in the junior resident category and Savitesh Kushwaha among PhD research scholars.
