89-year-old man robbed of $4,700 at Rockefeller Center
A pickpocket stole nearly $5,000 from an 89-year-old man at the Rockefeller Center subway station in New York City. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon around 4:40 p.m. Police say the thief, who is likely in his late 20s or early 30s, bumped into the elderly man while he was going down the stairs. The suspect then took a wallet from the man's back pocket, which contained $4,700 in cash and a debit card. The victim reported the theft to the police on Sunday. As of Monday, the suspect was still not caught. Despite this incident, overall grand larcenies in the subway system are lower this year. There have been 188 reported cases so far, down from 253 during the same time last year, according to the NYPD.
