The initiative is expected to create over 2,000 new jobs. The electric buses will operate in cities such as Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, Bilaspur, and Korba in Chhattisgarh. In Rajasthan, they will run in Ajmer, Alwar, Bikaner, and several other cities. Shillong is the city selected in Meghalaya. Sanyam Gandhi, the Whole-Time Director of Chartered Speed, emphasized the importance of this project. He stated that it marks a shift from traditional vehicles to a modern fleet of electric buses. This transition aims to improve urban mobility with cleaner and more sustainable options. Currently, Chartered Speed operates over 1,800 buses across states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Assam. They serve 350,000 passengers daily and employ around 4,800 people. The company is moving away from diesel-powered buses to greener fuel alternatives.
