A 92-year-old man has died after being stuck in mud for more than 24 hours during a country walk. William Morris Jones was reported missing on December 28 last year in Criccieth, Wales. A significant search effort began on the same day, but he was not found. William's body was later discovered in a waterlogged field. An inquest revealed details about his tragic end. Assistant coroner Sarah Riley explained that he had crossed an "incredibly boggy" area, which became difficult to navigate. Despite being a familiar route, the conditions at that time were dangerous. The police declared William dead on December 29 at 6:04 PM. Identification was made using personal documents found near him. A post-mortem examination indicated that he died from bronchopneumonia and hypothermia. The coroner has postponed the inquest pending further investigations.
