97% of Uttar Pradesh schools have basic infrastructure
In Uttar Pradesh, 97% of schools now have basic infrastructure. This improvement comes from a project called 'Operation Kayakalp,' led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Over the past eight years, the state has worked on refurbishing old schools and building new universities. Many schools now have separate toilets for boys and girls, hand-washing units, drinking water, and boundary walls. Just a few years ago, children struggled to get basic items like uniforms and shoes. To help, the government started a direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme. This program sends money directly to families to buy school essentials. Additionally, the PM SHRI scheme is upgrading 1,565 schools with modern facilities. The state is also building 6,481 new schools to improve education quality. Some of these new schools will teach students from pre-primary through 12th grade on one campus. Special residential schools for girls from poorer backgrounds have also been expanded. New educational opportunities are being created, including universities in several districts. Modern courses in fields like AI, 3D printing, and robotics are now available in many technical institutions. The government is even promoting Sanskrit education with scholarships. In a push for digital access, Uttar Pradesh has distributed smartphones and tablets to over 5 million young people, aiming to reach 20 million soon. Schools and academies are being developed to instill discipline and pride among youngsters as part of building a stronger education system.
