AAP protests in Delhi over BJP's unfulfilled promise
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held protests in New Delhi on Saturday. They accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of breaking a promise to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women. The protests took place at various locations across the city. AAP leaders and supporters handed out fake cheques for Rs 2,500 as a way to mock the BJP. Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj and other prominent party members led demonstrations in areas like Govindpuri and Kalkaji. MLA Vishesh Ravi and former Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi organized protests in Karol Bagh, while other AAP leaders held rallies in Kondli and Tilak Nagar. They asked when the promised Rs 2,500 would be credited to women's accounts. AAP claimed the distribution of cheques was an effort to embarrass the BJP into delivering on their promise. Bharadwaj pointed out that Prime Minister Modi had guaranteed payments beginning on March 8. However, he noted that no payments have been made, leaving many women in Delhi still waiting.
