Abandoned emaciated dog found in Meriden, puppies missing
An abandoned dog was found in Meriden on Sunday. The dog, called Petals, is very thin and believed to have recently given birth. A group of teenagers discovered her near Lincoln Plaza on West Main Street in the evening. Animal control officers say Petals is a hound mix, about the size of a beagle. She appears young and does not have a microchip or collar. After she was fed, her body showed signs of still producing milk, suggesting her puppies were taken away too soon. Officers searched the area where Petals was found but could not locate any of her puppies. They are asking the public for help in finding the dog's owner or any information about the puppies. Anyone with details is encouraged to call Meriden Animal Control at 203-235-4179. If the call is not answered, people can leave a message.
