Abilene police seek additional victims in sexual assault case
The Abilene Police Department is seeking additional victims in an ongoing sexual assault case. This follows the indictment of Valente Erik Cano, who faces charges of aggravated sexual assault related to an incident on July 20. Cano is currently in Taylor County Jail with bonds totaling $60,000. He faces charges for aggravated sexual assault and a probation violation for felony possession of methamphetamine. Authorities believe there may be more victims within the transient community, where Cano has been identified as living. Police are encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward. They can call Crimes Against Persons at 325-704-3221 or Abilene Crime Stoppers at 325-676-8477. Cano was booked into jail on January 29, and all accused individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Aggravated sexual assault is a serious charge, potentially leading to life in prison. The charge of meth possession can lead to a maximum of two years in a state jail.
