Academy reveals eligible films for animated, documentary and international feature categories at 97th Oscars

The Academy has announced the eligible films for the 97th Oscars in the animated, documentary, and international feature categories. This year's competition includes notable entries from major studios and independent filmmakers, highlighting a diverse range of films. In the animated feature category, 31 films are in contention, including Pixar's "Inside Out 2," which is now the highest-grossing animated film ever. This is a slight decrease from 33 submissions last year but an increase from 27 in 2022. The documentary feature category has 169 eligible films, up from 167 in 2023. Among them are "Will & Harper" and "Daughters." For the international feature race, 85 countries submitted films, down from 88 last year. The shortlist for both categories will be announced on December 17, 2024.
