Activist Trupti Desai has claimed that Krishna Andhale, a suspect in the murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, is hiding among transgender individuals near the Karnataka border. Desai met with Deshmukh's family and shared this information on Tuesday. Desai mentioned that there have been rumors about Andhale being in Nashik, but she received a call suggesting his new location. She said Andhale has disguised himself to avoid being caught. The activist also accused some police officials of being influenced by Walmik Karad, the main accused in the case. She alleges these officers are involved in illegal activities, including extortion. Desai submitted a list of 26 police personnel linked to these issues to the Beed superintendent of police. Deshmukh was abducted and killed on December 9 last year. Authorities have arrested seven individuals in connection to the crime, but Andhale remains at large. In relation to recent violence in Nagpur, Desai expressed concern. She urged the government to address the Aurangzeb tomb issue carefully to maintain public order. Desai criticized divisive narratives ahead of upcoming festivals and suggested that discussions in the assembly could be a distraction from serious issues like Deshmukh’s murder and crimes against women.
