A new indoor playground called Adventure Palace is set to open in Meriden Mall, Connecticut, by late summer or early fall. This playground will take over a large space that was formerly occupied by Best Buy, which closed in 2021. Adventure Palace will feature bouncing houses, ball pits, slides, and virtual reality experiences. The facility will also include party rooms for celebrations. Local officials, including Meriden’s economic development director Joseph Feest, expect this addition to be a popular destination for families and could increase traffic to the mall's food court. The owners of Adventure Palace also run Kiddo Land in Stamford. Meriden Mall general manager David Roy highlighted the importance of filling this anchor store with a new type of business that differs from traditional retail. This development comes as the Meriden Mall has seen several recent closures, including Windsor and Michael’s Jewelers. Other exits from the mall include Ruby Tuesday and Foot Locker. Roy mentioned that Moz Pizza & Grinders will be opening soon in the mall's food court as well. The Meriden Mall, which opened in 1971, was bought by Namdar Realty Group and Mason Asset Management in 2020. These companies also manage other malls in Connecticut. Meriden officials are actively seeking new office, medical, and recreational opportunities to boost the mall's offerings.
