Agra man arrested for creating fake Coast Guard website
A 28-year-old man from Agra has been arrested for creating a fake website for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). He was accused of inviting applications for a position as an assistant commandant. The suspect, identified as Gaurav Singh, was taken into custody on Monday. Police found that Singh, who has a Bachelor’s degree but is unemployed, had failed the ICG exam twice. To deceive others, he completed a computer course and built the fraudulent website. This site advertised fake job openings with the ICG. The investigation began when the ICG received a tip from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). Commandant T Ngamlien filed a complaint after discovering the fake recruitment site. A case was opened for cheating, and police created teams to locate the suspect. Singh frequently changed his location to avoid capture. However, he was eventually arrested in his hometown after authorities received new information. Investigators learned that he created the website in hopes of making money from fake ICG registrations. Authorities have checked his bank accounts but found no evidence of transactions related to job applications. The investigation is still ongoing.
