Agra Police implement 3D drone technology for investigations
Agra Police has introduced a new technology called the 3D & Drone-Based Crime Scene Management System, or 3DD-CSMS, to enhance crime scene investigations. This system combines LiDAR, drones, and virtual reality to create detailed 3D images of crime scenes. This technology aims to preserve evidence better and speed up investigations. The 3DD-CSMS will help officers move away from traditional 2D photography and hand-drawn sketches. Agra Police believes that the new system will provide more accurate and interactive digital reconstructions of crime scenes. It will soon be rolled out across 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. The police mentioned that with the conventional methods, important details can sometimes be missed. The 3DD-CSMS allows for precise 3D mapping of crime scenes which helps in maintaining evidence. DCP Sonam Kumar, who led the project, stated that this system will make crime scene analysis more scientific and effective. He believes it will greatly assist in legal proceedings, marking a significant step forward for evidence-based policing.
