AI democratizes knowledge access, benefiting students and farmers

A Google executive has highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in making knowledge more accessible. Wilson L White, who is the Vice President for Government Affairs & Public Policy at Google, spoke about how AI is not just a trendy term but a significant technology that can improve people's lives. White stated that access to information is a fundamental right. He emphasized that AI helps individuals personalize their experiences, translate languages quickly, and locate important information when needed. For example, he mentioned that AI assists students in finding relevant research papers and helps farmers access real-time weather updates. He summarized Google's approach to AI in three key points: being bold, responsible, and collaborative. First, he noted that Google aims to provide innovative and impactful AI solutions, such as those used in search and maps. Second, he stressed the importance of developing AI technology safely and responsibly for everyone. Third, he mentioned the need for cooperation with governments, academics, and businesses to enhance productivity. Additionally, White highlighted Google.org's efforts to support local non-profits in India, noting that the organization has provided over $60 million in funding, nearly $195 million in donated products, and more than 70,000 hours of volunteer work since 2015.
