AI enhances vaccine development and tailoring for populations
Scientists are now using artificial intelligence to improve vaccine development. This includes creating vaccines that generate specific immune responses and require fewer doses. AI helps researchers understand how different populations respond to vaccines. Dr. Ofer Levy from Boston Children’s Hospital highlighted the importance of tailoring vaccines to diverse groups. He noted that traditional vaccine development often relied on trial and error, but new technologies allow for a more precise approach. One significant advancement is the development of an opioid vaccine aimed at preventing fentanyl overdoses. This vaccine would help individuals at high risk by inducing antibodies that block fentanyl from affecting the brain.
