AI exposes poor talent quicker in Bengaluru's startup scene

Kunal Shah, the CEO of CRED, recently discussed the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the workplace and software development. He shared his thoughts on X, stating that AI is making it easier to identify underperforming employees. According to Shah, the speed of AI-driven feedback loops is forcing poor talent to show their true capabilities more quickly. He noted that in the past, slower processes allowed some underperformers to go unnoticed. "Exciting times," he said about these changes. Shah also pointed out that while AI tools can speed up software development and cut costs, this efficiency alone does not guarantee success. He compared it to building construction, where finding the right location and having good design are crucial. "Speed alone won't ensure success," Shah explained. He highlighted a trend in Bengaluru's startup scene, where more companies are adopting AI. He mentioned that many startups are improving productivity with AI, yet only about 20% have fully integrated these technologies into their operations. "The rest are waiting for a sign," he noted. Shah shared his personal experience with AI, saying it has significantly improved his efficiency. Tools like ChatGPT have helped him communicate ideas with his team in a much more effective way.
