AI innovations poised to transform Bollywood filmmaking costs
Ajay Devgn has launched Prismix, an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven media company in Bollywood. This move aims to enhance filmmaking and reduce production costs. Some studios are already using AI for scripting, post-production, and marketing, and more are expected to invest in these technologies. AI can help in various aspects of filmmaking. For example, Dipankar Mukherjee from StudioBlo noted that AI is effective in pre-production tasks like creating authentic costumes for period dramas. It can make budgeting easier by reducing the need for expensive foreign shoots. The first AI-generated feature film is set to release in May. AI is also changing how scripts are written and visual concepts are created. Harikrishnan Pillai from TheSmallBigIdea explained that AI speeds up the storyboarding process, helping directors focus on details more efficiently. Tools like ScriptBook help assess scripts and predict audience reactions. In marketing, AI generates creative content. For instance, an agency created AI-generated posters for a film featuring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. AI improves audience targeting and engagement through data analysis. Experts agree that while AI is making significant strides, it is not perfect and still needs human oversight. Merzin Tavaria from DNEG highlighted that studios are adapting to AI, which requires creative input to be truly effective. Nitin Jain from ShareChat & Moj added that human connection remains essential, as audiences value authentic experiences.
