Airtel upgrades network in Mumbai for IPL 2025
Airtel has made improvements to its network around Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. This upgrade comes just in time for the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, which begin on March 22. The company expects a large crowd of nearly 100,000 cricket fans. To accommodate them, Airtel has enhanced seven existing cell sites near the stadium. The upgrades are also applied to all IPL stadiums across the country. This means Airtel customers should have better voice and data connectivity during the matches, which will run until May. Airtel has been working on network optimization throughout Mumbai. Key locations like the airport, railway stations, and popular spots such as Marine Drive and the Gateway of India have received special attention. Major hotels, including The Oberoi and Taj Colaba, have also had network assessments done. Aditya Kumar Kankaria, the CEO of Airtel in Mumbai, commented on these enhancements. He expressed that the company wants to ensure customers can stay connected and share their experiences during the exciting IPL events. In other news, Airtel and Jio have partnered with Elon Musk's SpaceX to provide Starlink broadband services in India. This deal includes selling equipment at retail locations and offering services to rural areas, schools, and health centers. However, these plans still need approval from regulators before they can proceed.
