AISF opposes IIT Medical Academy closure at B.R. Ambedkar

The All India Students Federation (AISF) is opposing the closure of the IIT Medical Academy located in the Eedupugallu campus. Students and their parents have been protesting this move, saying it will harm the future of 600 first-year students. At a meeting on March 18, AISF vice-president M. Sai Kumar highlighted the students' concerns. The officials plan to shift these students to a different IIT training campus, but the students believe this solution is not sufficient. They are asking to remain at the current campus for at least this academic year. The federation is urging government intervention to keep the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar IIT Medical Academy open at Eedupugallu. They warned that protests would continue if their request is ignored. In another issue, AISF leaders expressed disappointment about government support for veterinary students. These students have been protesting for 44 days, asking for an increase in their honorarium from ₹7,000 to ₹25,000. However, the government only raised it to ₹10,500. The federation is calling for equal treatment for veterinary students, similar to MBBS and AYUSH students.
