Ajmer doctor beaten; house partially demolished by authorities
A doctor in Ajmer, Kuldeep Sharma, faced violence and the demolition of his house on Thursday. The Ajmer Development Authority (ADA) claimed the house was built on encroached land. When Dr. Sharma and his wife, who works at a medical college, heard about the demolition, they rushed home to find their children alone. Upon arrival, Dr. Sharma alleged that police officers accompanying the ADA beat him up and took him to a nearby police station. The ADA accused the couple of obstructing government work during the demolition. This incident sparked protests from several doctors who gathered at the police station, leading to an FIR against the ADA team. Doctors threatened to strike in Ajmer the following day. However, after discussions with the district administration and BJP leaders, they called off their strike later that evening. Dr. Sharma stated he had purchased the land legally from ADA before building his house. He claimed the demolition was done without any prior notice. A senior doctor, Dr. Gajendra Singh Bundela, condemned the police action and called for the suspension of the junior engineer involved. The additional district collector confirmed that they will investigate the doctor's complaints and take appropriate actions. BJP officials also visited the police station, as Dr. Sharma is known to support the party.
