Akhilesh Yadav claims 1,000 Hindus missing in Prayagraj
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has raised concerns about approximately 1,000 Hindu devotees who went missing during the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not addressing this issue in his recent statement in the Lok Sabha. Yadav's comments came after Modi praised the Mahakumbh for uniting people across India. Modi highlighted the event as a demonstration of India's ability to host large gatherings and acknowledged the efforts of many individuals in making it successful. Yadav questioned the budget allocated for the Mahakumbh by the government. He expressed frustration over the handling of the event, claiming that officials prevented people from participating due to a lack of resources. He called for the government to support the families of those who have gone missing. The former chief minister emphasized the need for the government to locate the missing persons and reunite them with their families. He also noted that posters of the missing individuals were being removed by authorities, calling it unacceptable. In response, PM Modi reflected on the overwhelming spirit of unity seen during the Mahakumbh. He remarked on the event's significance in showcasing India’s strength, especially in challenging times.
