Alaska Airlines launches northernmost Boeing 737 MAX route

Alaska Airlines will start a new route using the Boeing 737 MAX 8 between Anchorage and Utqiaġvik on June 12, 2025. This will be the northernmost route for the aircraft, which will operate daily until August 19, 2025. Previously, the route was served by different aircraft, such as the Boeing 737-800 and 737-700. Alaska Airlines is the only U.S. carrier on this route, enhancing its market position. The airline has recently added the 737 MAX 8 to its fleet and has 15 more on order. Alaska Airlines also plans to introduce the larger 737 MAX 10, expected to arrive in 2026.
